Questions

The UAE Has Three Financial Regimes, and Your Broker's Licence Tells You Which One Applies

Forex trading in the UAE sits under three coexisting regimes: the Capital Market Authority onshore, the DFSA in the DIFC and the FSRA in the ADGM. A broker's licence says which one it holds, and that changes who handles a complaint if something goes wrong.

Before you open an account, check the firm against the CMA register of licensed companies at uaecma.gov.ae. If the broker is registered elsewhere, the register will not list it, and you should ask directly which authority supervises it.

This matters more than the trading platform's design. A complaint about a rejected withdrawal goes to a different body depending on the regime, and knowing which one applies saves weeks.

Funding and Withdrawals Run Through Bank Transfer, in AED or Another Currency

The main payment rail for UAE trading accounts is bank transfer. Local bank transfer, card and international wire also appear, but the bank transfer is the one most residents use for both deposits and withdrawals.

Your bank's transfer app shows the cut-off times and any fees your bank charges. Those are set by your bank, not the broker, so check the app rather than assuming the platform's funding page covers everything.

Keep your account name and your bank account name matched. A mismatch is a common reason a withdrawal stalls, and it is easier to fix before you send funds than after.

The Trading Day in GST: London and New York Overlap in the Evening

Session hours in Gulf Standard Time, which is UTC+4, shape when liquidity is deepest. Sydney runs 02:00-11:00 GST, Tokyo 04:00-13:00 GST, London 12:00-21:00 GST and New York 17:00-02:00 GST.

The London and New York overlap falls locally between 17:00 and 21:00 GST. For a resident with a working day, that window sits after office hours, which is why many UAE traders concentrate activity in the evening.

Outside those hours, spreads and price gaps can behave differently. If you trade before the Sydney open or after New York closes, expect thinner conditions.

Choosing a Platform and Broker Starts With Verification, Not Features

The best trading platform in the UAE is the one whose broker you have already verified. Charts, order types and mobile apps matter, but they matter less than knowing which regulator stands behind the firm.

Start with the CMA register, then read the broker's own funding page for the payment methods it actually supports. Confirm that bank transfer is available in the currency you hold, and check how withdrawals are processed.

The forex expo in Dubai each year draws brokers and platform vendors to the emirate. It is a useful place to compare offerings in person, but treat marketing material as a starting point for your own checks, not a substitute for them.

What This Hub Page Covers Next

From here, the guide moves into regulation and complaints, funding and withdrawals, platform selection and the GST session map. Each section answers a question a UAE resident actually asks before opening or moving an account.

Nothing on this page recommends a specific broker or predicts returns. Where a figure is needed, such as a fee or a minimum, the guide points you to the source that publishes it.

Read the regulation section first if you are new. It determines which of the three regimes your complaint would go to, and that shapes everything else.
